A Day at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium in Ohio

Plan and Guidelines for Reopening

The Zoo is officially open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is having a spring sale! Through April 18, admission is $5 off the regular price. (Subject to change as capacity allows.) The park capacity restriction remains in effect). Due to COVID-19 and the need to continue to restrict our in-park capacity, Members and day guests must make dated/timed reservations before 2 p.m.

Our Members and day visitors can visit the Zoo on any day after 2 p.m. without a timed entry/reservation. We also want our Members to carry their membership card and photo ID to the turnstile.

What Do You Bring to the Zoo?

At the majority of our locations, we welcome Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. Some food and retail carts do not accept credit cards, but there are many ATMs located throughout the park for your convenience. Personal checks are not accepted.

We do not sell gift cards, but we do sell Creature Cash, which can be used in any location in the Zoo and Zoombezi Bay. Guest Relations is where you can get your hands on some Creature Cash.

Guests are welcome to bring food and drinks to the Zoo, but we do not allow straws (for the protection of the animals) and alcohol is not permitted.

How to Get Around the Zoo

Please keep in mind that we do not provide transportation once you enter the Zoo, so we suggest that you wear comfortable shoes. While stocks last, wheelchairs, electric scooters, and strollers can be rented.

You must exit and re-enter the park on the same day; however, you must obtain a hand-stamp on your way out. You will not be allowed back into the park if you do not get a hand-stamp.

Throughout the park, there are nursing stations and family toilets. Tap here to see a map of the park.

Wagons and strollers are allowed at the Zoo; however, please follow stroller parking signs in designated areas.

What to Expect

Please click here to see our admissions prices; please note that there is no extra charge for the aquarium, Discovery Reef, which is located on the west side of the Zoo on the right after visitors pass through the tunnel.

Zoombezi Bay, a water park linked to the Zoo, is owned and operated by the Zoo. Please keep in mind that your Zoo ticket/membership does not grant you access to Zoombezi Bay.

Rain or shine, the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is open 363 days a year! Indeed, many of the animals become more involved during the rain or colder weather, making it an ideal time to visit. Some animals from warmer climates, such as Africa, Australia, and Indonesia, are unable to withstand cold temperatures. Although many of these animals can be seen in their indoor environments, others cannot. Animals can be removed from display for a number of purposes, including exhibit care, environmental conditions, and health issues.
